Akron, Ohio, May, 23, 2007 - How Ohio and the United States will
meet growing energy needs in the future will be the topic of
conversation at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30 in Akron, at a town hall
meeting co-hosted by The University of Akron and ConocoPhillips. The
town hall meeting will be held at the Crowne Plaza Akron Quaker
Square, located at 135 South Broadway.
Akron residents will discuss Ohio's and the nation's energy future
as part of a Conversation on Energy, a public outreach program that
invites attendees to ask questions and share their ideas on energy
solutions that are secure, reliable, available and environmentally
responsible.
ConocoPhillips' representatives and leaders active in renewable
energy and energy efficiency, business and industry, the
environmental and conservation initiatives will provide their views
on topics including traditional oil and gas development and
consumption, renewable fuels, alternative energy sources, and energy
efficiency and conservation. Local and statewide business,
community and industry associations will participate as partners for
the meeting.
Dr. Luis M. Proenza, president of The University of Akron, will
serve as moderator for the town hall meeting. Featured panelists for
Conversation on Energy Akron include:
- Jim Gallogly, executive vice president, Refining, Marketing &
Transportation ConocoPhillips;
- Sabrina Watkins, manager, Advanced Technology, ConocoPhillips;
- Lionel Batty, vice chairman, Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition;
- Additional local energy experts active in the areas of energy
efficiency, business and industry, the environment and conservation.
