What should I wear?
The SWE Regional Conference is an event where there will be a combination of collegiate and professional attendees. Business casual is appropriate for most events. Attire for the banquet is semi-formal or business formal. The events on Friday night and Saturday night are casual dress. Remember to wear comfortable shoes!

As an aside, if you are planning to go out (shopping, dining, just for a walk) please remember -- it is still February in Northeast Ohio! The weather is quite changeable... it can be mid-50's and sunny OR below zero and snowing. Keep an eye on the weather while you are packing (Our zip code is 44321, and we are in Summit County). You'll want to have a hat and gloves just in case.

How much money should I bring?
All meals are included in the registration fee. You may wish to bring some spending money to purchase items from the shops at the hotel or from other collegiate sections.

What and where do I eat?
All meals are included in your registration fee. There are also many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and campus.

Am I required to attend all events?
You are strongly encouraged to attend all events however, it is not required. There will be prizes raffled at most events for those who attend!

What are the benefits of attending a SWE Regional conference?
As we strive to achieve our full potential in this demanding profession, attending a SWE conference can give us many opportunities not found in the classroom or professional environment. A SWE Conference includes educational seminars and speakers. It is also a location where women in engineering can meet and network with women with similar interests, struggles, and aspirations.

How many resumes should I bring?
Typically, you should bring 10 or more resumes. Please check out our career fair page to see what companies will be attending our career fair.

How do I get around at the conference? Will there be transportation from the hotel to the university?
There will be buses available to ride from the hotel to the student union at The University of Akron. Parking will be free at Quaker Square hotel for the duration of your stay. Depending on the weather, the hotel is within a 10 minute walk of the student union.

Is there any shopping around?
There are numerous shops in Quaker Square for your convenience.

What do I do if I arrive early on Friday?
You are encouraged to attend the event Friday night entitled “What does your future hold?” If you arrive before the event begins, there are shops in Quaker Square for your convenience.

What is the banquet?
The banquet is a formal dinner event Saturday night. There will be a speaker at the banquet who has in one way or another “shattered the sky’s limit.”

Are there any activities or seminars geared to collegiate members?
The conference committee has worked hard to be sure there are seminars at each time that will be attractive for both collegiates and professionals. There are also events Friday night and Saturday night.

How many people are coming?
Typically, there are 150-200 total attendees to Region G conferences.
